Little Time lapse video I put together of Oliver’s portrait session, Over an hour of time in the studio condensed into less than 3 min. Enjoy the two of us chasing that kid all over the place!

Have I photographed your wedding?  How about a senior, family, or newborn session?  If you would be so kind as to leave me a review in online so others can know how awesome you thought Ann and I were that would be outstanding.

Our Google+ page would be outstanding (you got to have a Google+ account, but they are super easy and pretty cool!

Our OneWed profile would be cool too!

Our Facebook Fan Page is also great!

A few weeks ago I had a group of 4 cousins in the studio for some photos, all of them under 2 years old.  What resulted was a loud, constantly moving blast of a photo shoot.  Trying to get everyone happy, sitting in the right spot, and looking at the camera at the same time proved to be rather difficult, but we did get lots of great photos of everyone!

Thought I would take a break and share a little about my crazy Australian Shepherd, Oscar, and a photo that I shot of him in the spring.  Several months ago I rented some photo equipment to play around with hypersync, a way to trigger a studio flash at a much faster shutter speed than normal.  I am a big fan of action sports photography and lighting, so I figured I could give this technique a shot and see what I could come up with.  I didn’t have any action sports athletes to work with, but I did have my Aussie Oscar.  He is always willing to chase a ball or Frisbee so I set up a studio light in the middle of my yard (yea, the neighbors might of thought I was odd, but oh well) and had my wife throw the ball towards where the light was aiming.   All this was alot harder than it looked, it was tricky to get the action to happen in just the right spot, time and compose my shot, and get Oscar to do something photo worthy.  Over the course of a few days we set up the light several times playing with several toys trying to get a photo that would look right.  What I ended up with is 1 image out of several hundred that I am pleased with, and even then there are things I would do differently if I were to re-shoot this image.

This was the best I came up with.  I shared the image originally on my personal Facebook page, and my instagram account, and thought nothing more about it.  A few months passed and the organization that we adopted Oscar from several years ago were holding a photo contest for the annual calendar.  I had always meant to submit a photo to this contest, but never got around to it,  well this year I had a photo ready to go, so I submitted the image for their calendar, and was thrilled when I learned that Oscar will be the cover photo for October.  Here is the link to purchase the calendar in a few weeks when they go on sale, all the profits go towards rescuing and finding homes for Australian shepherds, plus you get to look at my photo all month of October in 2014.

I also entered the photo into a contest sponsored by Pocketwizard, the maker of the triggers that allow hypersyncing your studio strobes.  Again, I didn’t think anything of this, there were hundreds of photos entered into the contest.  While I did not win, I was thrilled that my image was selected as one of the 11 semi-finalist photos of the hundreds that were entered!  Here is the link to see all the Winners and Semi-Finalist photos.

All from a photo where I was just playing around with my dog in the yard.

Excuse me, I have to end this, as Oscar is sitting next to me impatiently waiting to go out and play ball!

I am looking for some Indy action sports athletes (wakeboard, skateboard, longboard, bmx or?) to work with this spring, summer and fall on a project.  I would like to shoot images of you riding using a flash in a similar manner to Chris Garrison.  You will get a copy of all edited images from our session together.  Age and skill level not really important, just looking to have a good time and shoot some cool photos!   Contact me for further information!

And whats a blog post without some photos……of me this time!  Love to wakeboard, even when its cold out!
